The Colorado Springs Conservatory will be presenting the Prince Street Theater production of ‘Alice in Wonderland’. In typical CS Conservatory fashion, the cast will include currently enrolled students ages 8-18 years alongside CSC alumni and mentor/artists. This production will be led creatively by CSC Alumni brother team Tripp and Drew Fountain. The last time the brothers were here to lead a production was in 2015 when they directed and choreographed the stellar production of ‘Oklahoma’.

Based on the Lewis Carroll novel, this musical brings all the well known characters to life through song and narrative. Appropriate for all ages. Stargazers theater will be offering plenty of refreshments for the entire family – so come, enjoy a meal and a show.

Synopsis

Lewis Carroll’s unflappable young heroine, Alice, takes a tumble down an enchanted rabbit hole to an off-kilter world of mock turtles, dancing flora, punctual rabbits, and mad tea parties. Playing cards hold court and nothing is as it seems in this land where whimsy and wordplay are the order of the day. Will Alice be able to get find her footing in this bizarre place?! We will find out if she figures out how to get home.

Creative Team

Stage Director: Tripp Fountain

Tripp Fountain has spent the last 15 years based out of New York City, but it is always a thrill to be able to come home to Colorado. He first moved to “the city” to attend NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he received a BFA in Drama, with a Minor in Psychology. During and after that time, Tripp performed regionally and at sea, as well as in the National Tours of EVITA, CATS, and the most recent revival of HAIR, which was also his Broadway debut.

Tripp spent his middle school and high school years at the Colorado Springs Conservatory, while attending school at District 38 in Monument. He has been so fortunate to be asked to return to CSC as choreographer for Seussical The Musical, Fiddler On The Roof, and Oliver!, as well as director for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Oklahoma! (which was choreographed by his brother, Drew.) Most recently, he has worked as an assistant director and a rehearsal director for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, including the show Flight: Dare To Dream on their newest ship, the Symphony Of The Seas.

Always enchanted by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Tripp is so excited to return to dive into that world with such a marvelous team, in an environment that helped encourage his creativity so much growing up… Content with his current height, though, he will refrain from partaking of anything that says “Drink Me” for the moment. Tripp is an alumni of CSC.

Choreography: Drew Fountain

Drew Fountain served as choreographer for the previous CSC Productions of “The Fantasticks”, “Cabaret” and “Oklahoma!” Performance credits include the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, River North Dance Chicago, Step One Dance Company, and MOMIX Dance Theatre. Additionally, his regional theater production credits include “An American in Paris” (Ogunquit Playhouse) and “White Christmas” (Arts Center of Coastal Carolina). Drew earned his BFA in Dance from Marymount Manhattan College. Drew is an alumni of CSC.

Music Direction: Fred Tessler

Fred Tessler is a Director and Music Director who’s career has included work with major regional theatres including The Berkeley Repertory Theatre, The Minneapolis Children’s Theatre, The Berkshire Theatre Festival, and Theatre de la Jeune Lune. In addition, Fred was Associate Artistic Director and Resident Music Director for Hope Summer Repertory Theatre for 24 seasons, directing and/or music directing over 60 productions. A 20 year resident of New York City, Fred’s work there included 12 years as an Adjunct Professor in Wagner College’s Theatre Dept. and at the Cap21 Conservatory at NYU. Music directing credits include the Off-Broadway production of Five Course Love, three seasons with the ENCORES! series at City Center and productions with the Roundabout Theatre Company and Manhattan Class Company. Fred has also created numerous cabaret shows, both in NYC and across the country. As a director, favorite productions include The Learned Ladies, Cloud 9, Hot Mikado, Working, and Smokey Joe’s Cafe. Fred has worked as a pianist with The Royal Shakespeare Company and been an Artist in Residence at the Stratford Festival of Canada.
