CC and the Silhouettes
Christina Wells (singer/songwriter) has been writing and performing music and theater since she was 5 years old at the CSC.
After leaving to earn her degree in Fine Arts and Musical Theater she spent some time in New York City and adventured into a couple other life experiences.
But in 2018 came back home to Colorado to find her true voice.
She established ‘CC and the Silhouettes’ in October of 2018 for the first time playing all her original music with David Musante (Guitarist/bassist) and Daniel De La Vega (Drummer). Since then she has released their first single “Black” on all music Platforms and have performed concerts all over the Springs.
Currently, she has been finding her sound and expanding her band with Amon Copeland (Guitarist), Ian Gregory (Bassist), and Jeff Grady (Keyboard/vocals).
She is honored to say her entire band are alumni and mentors at the CSC and is looking forward to a summer expansion tour to bring her music and art to an even bigger audience.
Daniel De La Vega
Born at 12,000ft above sea level in La Paz, Bolivia, Daniel is no stranger to the mountains and the outdoors lifestyle.
He started playing drums at thirteen, heavily influenced by the Latin and folkloric music of his area.
Since then, he has had the privilege of studying under very talented drummers, who have expanded his musicality, both in Bolivia and the U.S.
In 2016, after eight years of living in the United States, he finally moved to Colorado Springs to reconnect with the mountains.
Here, he has found a vibrant music community and is currently the drummer for Coronation (Reggae); CC and the Silhouettes (Alternative Rock); and The Urban Classic (Jam-Fusion).
He has also participated in live recordings next to Mihret Ab (Ethiopian Gospel) and has introduced himself to Jazz, next to the Colorado Springs Conservatory.
Whatever the genre might be, he is always eager to share the power and joy behind the kit.
David Siegel
Violinist David Siegel is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and Colorado Springs Conservatory.
Equally at home on stage at a jazz club, concert hall or bluegrass festival, David is the only violinist to win the Pikes Peak Jazz and Swing Society’s Danny Stevenson Memorial Scholarship and is also a winner of the Pikes Peak Philharmonic Concerto Competition.
He served as concertmaster of the Riverside Chamber Orchestra and MSM Jazz Orchestra in New York City and is a member of the award-winning bands Mango fan Django and Grass it Up, respectively named Best Jazz Band, Best Original Band and Best Bluegrass Band by the Colorado Springs Independent. Alongside Grass it Up, David has opened for artists including the Yonder Mountain String Band, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Front Country, and festival appearances include the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Walnut Valley Festival, and High Mountain Hay Fever.
Off stage, David serves as executive director of the Bee Vradenburg Foundation, a grant-making foundation supporting and advocating for arts and culture in the Pikes Peak region.
Emma Phillips
Emma Phillips is in her 9th year at the Colorado Springs Conservatory where she studies primarily in drumming and works on songwriter material in the recording arts program.
Aside from drumming, Emma also plays piano, ukulele, guitar, cello, as well as bass and Bb clarinets.
In her free time she releases her original music under the artist name Planethead, and will be studying Music Production in college.
She is currently a high school senior and is excited by the music endeavors that lie in her future.
Jordan Smith
Jorden Smith is the founder and creative director of “A Positive Note”, the program that now resides at the Colorado Springs Conservatory. This program teaches kids and adults with disabilities the fundamentals of music! Including Guitar, Vocals, Piano, and Drums.
Jorden aka “Jordy”, has played guitar since he was 3 years old, began playing piano at 12 years of age, and after the accident which took his life in 2007, (which he was revived) began playing trumpet!
He is now in his senior year at UCCS receiving a degree in instrumental performance and a minor in dance. Jordy has been through a lot but seeing the students learn to play is the most rewarding thing to Jorden.
He is forever grateful for everything that has been entailed in the program! It was started at the Conservatory because of a meet be Jordy and Linda Weise the founder of the Conservatory. The program has been going for 9 years and he knows it will thrive into the future!
Josh Franklin
Josh Franklin is an accomplished Broadway performer, singer songwriter and composer/lyricist.
As a writer, Josh has written, recorded and co produced two solo albums, his self titled debut album in 2012 and “Spent” released in 2016.
As an actor, his Broadway credits include Anything Goes, Ghost, Legally Blonde, Grease and The Prom.
Regionally, he’s performed with The Stratford Festival, Goodspeed Opera House, The Alliance Theater, St. Louis Rep and others. He received wide recognition for his first national tour roles as Bob Gaudio (Jersey Boys), Danny Zuko (Grease), Chad (All Shook Up), and Billy Crocker (Anything Goes) which garnered him a Helen Hayes Award nomination.
