September First Friday Art Walk Featuring Dianna Cates Dunn

The Colorado Springs Conservatory will display the art of Dianna Cates Dunn beginning with an opening on Friday, September 1st, 5:30pm-7:30pm, as part of First Friday Artwalk.  Light refreshments and beverages will be served. Join us as we display the art of this talented local artist and enjoy our live piano music by Wesley Rivera. This event is free and open to the public, no RSVP required.

Utahan by birth, Coloradoan by choice, and, an artist by nature and desire; this is an apt, albeit brief, summation of me. Oh, I could smoose you with tales of an artistic youth and upbringing. I could wax on about my years of training with various artists and designers. (And there have been some good ones!) I might say that I have created an artistic style unlike any before me. But then, that would just be pure speculation. The reality is that I paint because I must. I paint to satisfy all the feelings, emotions, and ideas rumbling around my life. I paint to surprise others, and, myself. Each work is an abstracted expression of an event experienced or observed by me. Though only two dimensional, I approach each painting in a three-dimensional mind set. With transparent layers, I seek to push out to you, and then, pull you back. I want each painting to be an evocative journey that you want to take. For you, the truth is simple; either you are touched by what you see, or, you are not. Surround yourself with that which intrigues you, and, with what draws you back to it time, after time.

The recipient of many awards, TOSCA Magazines 2015 Colorado Artist of the Year and the Founders Award from the Colorado Watermedia Society, my works have also been featured in “The Art of Layering: Making Connections”, “American Art Collector, Book 2”, “Art Buzz 2008” and Luxe Magazine 2011.
