About Bernard Artest

Colorado artist Bernard Arnest (1917-1986) – whose work is represented in such collections as the National Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian – regarded musical groups as a kind of ideal society, in which everyone had a role to play in creating a harmonious whole.

About 20 of his approximately 300 oil paintings and many of his drawings explore this theme.

Most were painted in Colorado Springs, where he was head of the Colorado College art department before his retirement in 1982.

A selection of these and other works will be on display and for sale at the Colorado Springs Conservatory Feb. 13-16.

Proceeds will benefit the Conservatory.
