Andy Burtschi

Andy Burtschi has worked as a professional bassist for over thirty years in Dallas, Memphis, Nashville, Central Illinois, and Colorado Springs. He studied music at the University of Evansville and at the University of North Texas. He was an adjunct professor of music at Millikin University from 1998 to 2008. He is currently on the faculty of the Colorado Springs Conservatory. An in-demand bassist with extensive live and studio experience in a wide array of musical styles, he enjoys a full playing schedule with many fine musicians.

Jazz recording projects have included Jazz America with The Beatniks (his own group); Hard at It and Cool Yule with Randall Reyman; Rose of Loami, Oop Bop Sh’Bang, and Bird’s Eye View with Sam Crain, and Proceed to Route with the Wayne Wilkinson Trio. He has also recorded with contemporary Christian artists Jared Anderson (People of Troy and The Narrow Road), Michael Gungor (Grammy-nominated Beautiful Things), and Shannon Wexelberg (Love Came for Me).

He has performed as a member of the Wayne Wilkinson Trio since 2011, featuring Wayne’s brilliant jazz guitar work and the fine drumming of Todd Williams. In recent years he has also performed regularly with local favorites Alan Joseph, Joe Sciallo and the Deep End, Marcie and Ed Hureau, Susan Rissman, Nube Nueve, New Vintage Jazz, Thomas Dawson, Mark Bovee, Lila Mori, Brad Bietry, Andy Clifton and Company, and many others.
