This summer we are excited to hold our third annual, four-week musical theater intensive for high school performers, actors, and musicians!  This is an excellent opportunity for all students looking for an immersive musical experience and is open to all students in the Pikes Peak Region.  Students will engage in classes in their chosen discipline as well as rehearsals for a final, fully realized production of The Prom: The Musical to be performed in the Dusty Loo Bon Vivant Theatre at the Ent Center for the Arts, August 4 – 6.  We are incredibly grateful to The Ent Center for collaborating with us on this adventure.

We will be running an acting and instrumental track concurrently, which means the production will be performed entirely by students of the Pikes Peak Region.  In addition to the production, a huge summer component will be all the students creating devised works together, seeing how musical and theater training can collaborate to make entirely new works never seen before.  These works and other class performances will be shared in a public showcase at the end of the third week of classes.

Acting/Singing Track:

In the acting/singing track students will explore classes in scene study, musical theater history, production design, music theory, movement, voice, and devised collaboration.  Classes will be taught by local and nationally recognized mentors who are at the top of their craft and committed to an educational environment that prioritizes the student experience.  We believe that in order to uplift young artists, we must give them a voice in the creative and collaborative process.  This is destined to be an experience unlike any other.

Instrumental Track:

Open to high school instrumental students, including piano, guitar, bass, strings, winds, and percussion/drums. Students in this four-week intensive will participate in special topic classes, which will include improvisation, arranging and reading, as well as ensemble study in jazz, chamber music, and other genres. Participants will work with Conservatory mentors and guest artists.

Join us for a special park playtime to experience the magic of Piccolo, a unique music class designed by experienced educators at the Colorado Springs Conservatory to help you and your child explore, learn, and bond through music. Designed for babies, toddlers, and their caregivers, the Piccolo program is more than just play—it’s a joyful, hands-on learning experience that introduces music, movement, and early literacy skills in a fun and engaging way.

Together, you and your child will:

  1. Sing songs and move to the rhythm to foster group participation and bonding.
  2. Explore age-appropriate fine motor activities that build readiness for playing instruments.
  3. Enjoy a read-aloud story that encourages a love of reading and supports early literacy skills.
  4. Learn the basics of rhythm, note identification, and keeping a beat—all while having fun!

This is your chance to see how the Conservatory’s Piccolo class nurtures an early love of music and the arts.
