The Colorado Springs Conservatory (CSC) was established in 1994, with the goal of bringing world-class performing arts education to the Pikes Peak Region. CSC was founded by Linda Weise, a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory and the Juilliard School. Ms. Weise led the organization until June 2021.
In July of 2022, Nathan Halvorson began his tenure as the CEO of Colorado Springs Conservatory. With a master’s degree from the University of Iowa and a career in arts education for youth, he is building upon the rich history of the organization while expanding community partnerships that offer access to many more students throughout our city. Nathan’s commitment to excellence and inclusivity is helping the Conservatory blaze a trail into the future.
The Conservatory is more than a location – it’s a safe space for young people to explore their passions and find their voices. Beginning in a private home, it moved to Golf Acres Plaza for nearly a decade. Following a two-year stint in Galileo Elementary School, CSC has been in residence at 415 Sahwatch St. since 2012. As we look to the future, we are confident that no matter where CSC lives, it will always be a community that creates opportunities for students to study performing arts as they grow into more empathetic and confident human beings.
For over thirty years, CSC has been changing the lives of the young people of the Pikes Peak Region. With an unwavering commitment to artistic growth, celebration of each individual spirit, and a deep understanding of the life-affirming impact of arts education, CSC has created a lasting legacy that will live on for decades to come.
