Fred Tessler

Fred Tessler is delighted to serve as Lead Mentor for Theatre at Colorado Springs Conservatory. Fred has been working at the Conservatory since 2015. Fred holds degrees in French and Theatre from Macalester College. Fred served as Associate Artistic Director and Resident Music Director for over 50 productions for Hope Summer Repertory Theatre in Holland, MI. His favorite shows include Dames at Sea, Working, The Hot Mikado, and Les Miserables. A 20-year resident of New York City, Fred was on the faculty of Wagner College where he was Director and/or Music Director of over a dozen shows, including Brigadoon, Tick, Tick…Boom, and Master Class. Fred was also Music Director for productions at Brooklyn College and Columbia University and was on the staff of the Cap 21 Conservatory at NYU. Music directing credits in New York included the Off-Broadway production of Five Course Love, three seasons with the ENCORES! series at City Center, and productions with The Roundabout Theatre Company and Manhattan Class Company. Regional credits include productions with Theatre de la Jeune Lune, The Minneapolis Children’s Theatre, The Berkeley Repertory Theatre and The Berkshire Theatre Festival. Fred has been an Artist in Residence at The Stratford Festival of Canada.
