Each January the Colorado Springs Conservatory presents musical productions featuring the students, alumni and mentors. This year CSC presents a double bill of Side Show and James and the Giant Peach Jr.
Side Show is a musical by Bill Russell (books and lyrics) and Henry Krieger (music) based on the lives of Daisy and Violet Hilton, conjoined twins who became famous stage performances in the 1930s. The story takes us from a circus freak show to resounding vaudeville success and all that goes along with that.
The Company Colorado Springs Conservatory students and joined by alumni and mentors with stage direction by Broadway veteran, Ms. Billie McBride. Music direction by Linda Weise and CSC alumni, Tripp Fountain and Josh Franklin. The CSC has partnered with the Warehouse Restaurant. Ticket holders can enjoy a customized “Side Show” menu complete with fun food like ‘The Bearded Lady Burger’ Last seating for dinner is 530 for a 7PM show.

James and the Giant Peach, Jr is presented by the younger Company students under the direction of CSC alumni, Ms. Cc Wells.
James and the Giant Peach is a popular children’s novel written in 1961 by British author Roald Dahl. It was adapted into a film of the same name in 1996. The plot center on a young English orphan who enters a gigantic, magical peach, and has a wild and surreal cross –world adventure with seven magically altered garden bugs he meets. They set off on a journey to escape from James’ two mean and cruel aunts.
The cast includes students from the Conservatory ages 9-12. Music direction is provided by Ms. Leann Schmidt
